Choosing the right name for your company is vital – it represents your brand and establishes its identity in the market. Once you’ve settled on a powerful name, the next crucial step is reserving it with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). This guide will walk you through the process of both online and offline name reservation for your company.
Two Options for Name Reservation:

Online Reservation (Recommended):
- Create a User ID: Head over to the SECP’s eServices portal.
- Click on “Sign Up” and follow the instructions to register for an account and create a user ID.
- Fill the Application Form: Once logged in, navigate to the “Company Name Reservation” section. Locate the application form and carefully fill in the details of your desired company name(s). You can submit up to three proposed names in order of preference.
- Submit and Pay Fee: Review your application for accuracy, then submit it electronically to the SECP. You will be required to pay a nominal fee of Rs. 200/- online through a secure payment gateway.

Offline Reservation:
- Download and Complete Form: Visit the SECP website and download the “Name Reservation Application” form (INC-Form-I).
- Prepare Documents: Print the downloaded form, fill it out completely, and attach the original challan for the application fee of Rs. 500/-. You can download the bank challan form. Use a designated bank branch to pay the fee and obtain the original challan.
- Submit Documents: Send the completed application form (INC-Form-I) along with the original challan through a reliable courier service to the SECP’s main office.
Processing and Approval:
After submitting your application (either online or offline), the SECP’s designated registrar will examine your proposed company name for potential conflicts with existing registered companies or trademarks. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email from the SECP containing the reserved name.
Important Notes:
- The name reservation is valid for a period of 60 days.
- If the proposed name is not approved, you may receive an email notification with reasons for rejection. You are then free to submit new names for consideration within the 60-day window.
- It is advisable to choose unique and distinctive names to enhance the chances of approval.
